Wolfgang Wess studied aeronautics and space technology at the University of the Armed Forces in Munich. From 1984 until he completed his service in 1988, he was in charge of a helicopter maintenance unit in the Naval Air Wing. He then worked for Dornier GmbH, now part of Airbus Group SE, in a development team working in the fields of navigation, position control and thermal control for satellites.
Mr. Wess joined our firm in 1990 and became a partner in 1997. He became a German patent attorney in 1993 and an accredited representative before the European Patent Office in 1994. He has been an accredited representative in trademark and design matters before the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, now the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), since 1996.
Wolfgang Wess advises and represents our clients in patent grant proceedings and opposition proceedings before both the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trademark Office and Federal Patent Court as well as in trademark and design cases before the German Patent and Trademark Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Mr. Wess also has a wealth of experience in conducting direct negotiations between parties in order to settle patent infringement litigation proceedings out of court, and has worked as counsel and as arbitrator in arbitration proceedings. He focuses his attention not only on the details of legal factors but also always on the technical intricacies of each individual case, in order to arrive at a comprehensive assessment which optimally promotes the interests of the clients in his charge.
