Katharina Bauch-Koepe studied food chemistry at the University of Münster and the Technical University of Munich.
Following a year in industry at the Regional Chemical Investigations Office for Health in Southern Bavaria, she completed her studies by taking the Second State Examination in 1989.
Ms Bauch-Koepe is a Germany patent attorney, European patent attorney and European trademark and design attorney and has over 20 years’ professional experience in the field of protecting industrial property rights, including obtaining, defending and enforcing technical industrial property rights, trademarks and designs at the national, European and international level, as well as proven intercultural skills.
Ms Bauch-Koepe was a partner at the firm Koepe & Partners from 2001 to 2015. In 2016, the firm Koepe & Partners amalgamated with the firm Schwabe Sandmair Marx. She has since been working as a freelance consultant for the firm Schwabe Sandmair Marx.
Ms Bauch-Koepe advises and represents domestic and international clients, with a particular focus on Asia and the US, in all matters of protecting industrial property rights. Her activities as an attorney focus on a broad spectrum of disciplines within the field of Chemistry, in particular inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmaceutics, biochemistry and biotechnology and in particular food chemistry and cosmetics.
She represents clients in patent grant proceedings, opposition proceedings, nullity proceedings, and proceedings relating to trademark and design law. Another focus of her work involves compiling expert opinions on validity and patent infringement. She also advises in infringement proceedings for all forms of industrial property rights.
