Andreas Gassenhuber studied electrical engineering and information technology at the Technical University of Munich, specializing in communications engineering, computer and processor development, and semiconductor technology. He graduated with a German Diplom in early 1995. Mr. Gassenhuber also has many years’ experience in the field of medical technology. During his studies, he acquired valuable industrial experience at BMW and Rohde & Schwarz in Munich, and at Analogic Corporation in Massachusetts, U.S.
Andreas Gassenhuber joined our firm in 1994, becoming a German patent attorney, accredited representative before the European Patent Office and accredited representative in trademark and design matters before the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, now the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), in 1998 and a partner in 2003.
Mr. Gassenhuber advises both national and international clients in proceedings relating to all types of industrial property rights, from acquiring rights to defending and enforcing them. He has specific experience of providing patent attorney’s advice, to both plaintiffs and defendants, in patent infringement proceedings. He also frequently conducts extensive opposition proceedings relating to German and European patents in many different technical fields, such as for example medical technology, computer-implemented inventions or precision engineering. Mr. Gassenhuber always places himself in the specific situation and outlook of the clients in his charge, which includes taking into account cultural factors. He advises, for instance, both national and international clients, with a particular focus on Asia and the US, regions which he regularly visits.
